How durable is the Backcountry Banjo?
My original banjo from the CDT has hiked several thousand miles on the outside of my pack in a plastic bag, It was strapped to my handlebars for a 400-mile bikepacking and packrafting trip in Chile. It does well in a drybag on the bow of a packraft or stored in the T-Zip. When it’s not in the backcountry, I usually keep my banjo in my car through the heat and cold.
All this to say, I have used and abused my banjo, and it has held up just fine. Treat it with care, but it should be able to keep up.

Is there a warranty?
It’s quite scary to release a product to the public. I’ve done a lot of testing, but as these things get out in the world, stuff will inevitably fail in ways I didn’t expect. Whatever the issue, reach out to me and we’ll find a solution. I’ll replace any parts and fix whatever breaks within reason.
How do I change strings?
Here’s a video explaining the process!
What kind of strings do you recommend?
I think my banjos sound best tuned to open A, and medium or medium/light gauge strings work best for that. The gauges I use are 9.5/12/16/22/9.5.

Do you have resources for learning banjo?
For Bluegrass/Scruggs style I like Jim Pankey and Eli Gilbert on youtube. For clawhammer, check out Brainjo and Hilarie Burhans.
